Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization or IASTM is a newer, but very effective method for treating movement, pain, and dysfunction. It’s typically used for treating muscle and other soft tissues and at Salina Spine, Sport & Rehab we use it in a functional manner and like to incorporate movement into this treatment.

There are multiple reasons why IASTM is effective but some of the main reasons the research suggests include bringing blood flow to the involved region and desensitizing the area of pain.

The goal with IASTM is to achieve better range of motion and decrease pain the patient may be experiencing so that we can then start to perform rehab exercises for the specific injury the patient might be dealing with.
